When we were talking about the move to executive arrangements in Harlow Council recently, one of the biggest arguments the opposition had with the change was that they “would be cut out of the decision making process” an argument that I have sympathy for and have promised as Leader of the Council  will not happen under my leadership.

Imagine my surprise therefore to attend the Resources Working Group tonight, the body which looks after the finances of the council and monitors the different budgets that we have, and find no opposition members there.

One opposition group has had good attendance and I know the Councillor in question had a public meeting in their ward but the least they could do was send someone on their behalf. The other opposition group though, have not attended this meeting this year….. One has to question the seriousness of some councillors!
